Natale “Lino” Scotti

Natale Scotti, known to everyone as Lino,

he started at the age of nine as an apprentice in his uncle Carlo's workshop in Melegnano. Born in 1932, in a few years he learned the secrets of the "cyclist" trade and in 1956 he took over from his uncle in managing the shop, in Via Vittorio Veneto. In the meantime, he developed a great passion for the world of racing and took part in various competitions around Lombardy. It was certainly not like today, the teams were not organized with flagships and vans, Lino and his companions went to Milan by bicycle to participate in the races that arrived in the Bergamo area and after having covered approximately one hundred kilometers of the race, they had to return home in bike without a penny to buy something to eat.

Hanging up the racing bike,

Scotti played a leading role in the Pedale Melegnanese, an association founded in 1956. For decades he held the position of sports director and the workshop in Via Vittorio Veneto became a meeting place for young cyclists in the area who rode the bicycles made by him. The Sunday commitment to competitions will continue for decades and there were many young people led by Scotti in the glorious years of the Pedale Melegnanese.
